The developer is Ray Fougere, who studied aerospace engineering and spent 25 years involved in ski instruction. While observing athletes' movements, he focused on the mechanism that transfers a skier's motion from the boot to the ski.

The idea was to maintain lateral stiffness while responding to forward pressure with elasticity. This concept gave birth to the BOOSTER STRAP, which features a stretchy elastic belt.

The very first prototype was made in his home kitchen. He hand-stitched the strap using a yacht repair kit, and through repeated testing with colleagues and the racers he coached—constantly adjusting materials and tension—he solved challenges identified on the snow. That process of problem-solving on the slopes is what shaped this simple tool.

In 1999, the BOOSTER STRAP began its journey as a brand at a U.S. Ski Team training camp. It was quickly adopted by World Cup athletes, spreading rapidly throughout the competitive circuit.

As these racers transitioned into freeride and freestyle, they kept their trusted BOOSTER STRAP on their feet. Beyond its responsiveness during turns, its ability to dampen the impact felt on the shins during landings earned it even further acclaim.

Sent out to the world by two makers and two sewing machines.

Even now that it has become a globally recognized brand, every BOOSTER STRAP is still made in the USA. Production is handled by two women using two industrial sewing machines. From this small workshop, approximately 25,000 straps are sent out each year.

The flash of inspiration from a single ski coach reaches skiers around the world through the hands of its makers. The story that began in a kitchen continues today on the slopes.
