The apex outdoor Kea Crampon is an innovative half-crampon/ice axe that can be attached to ski touring tech/TLT ski boots. (It cannot be used with NTN telemark boots that have tech inserts.)

In most cases, ski touring crampons/ice axes are only used for ascents and are heavy and bulky in a backpack. The Kea Crampon halves the weight and size by dividing the front half, securing it firmly with tech/TLT pins and rubber dampers.

What makes the best crampon/ice axe? It's one that allows for secure climbing and can be carried without stress.

Features of the Kea Crampon

• Uses high-strength stainless steel, unlike aluminum
• Secure attachment with tech/TLT pins
• Size (fit) adjustment with rubber dampers, compatible with all ski touring boots (not compatible with NTN telemark boots that have tech inserts)
• One screw can be easily attached and detached even in harsh conditions using the included carabiner tool
• Anti-loss stopper cut into the groove of one screw (the screw is designed not to come off)
• The crampon body and carabiner tool are connected with a leash to prevent accidental loss
• Unlike full crampons, quick attachment and detachment can be performed while standing

By combining it with our SKEATS™ product, you can build a crampon system that adapts to changing snow conditions. When skinning up, attach SKEATS™ for support. When skinning becomes too difficult, attempt climbing with crampons/ice axes. While Kea Crampons alone provide ample security, attaching SKEATS™ to your boots is also an effective strategy in situations where failure is not an option, such as traversing a large, icy slope.
