The most sophisticated hybrid touring binding on the market has been updated to version 2.0 for the 2024-2025 season. The main updates and changes from the CAST Freetour 1.0 are:
- The newly developed base plate, toe pedestal, and Tech Toe allow for smoother and easier attachment and removal of the toe piece.
- The LOOK Pivot 18 toe piece comes with the Freetour 2.0 Toe Pedestal pre-assembled, eliminating the need to disassemble and assemble the toe piece.
- The brake lock shape has been revised to provide a more secure brake hold.
- Successfully reduced weight to 49g in walk mode and 124g in glide mode (one side, brake width 115mm, GripWalk/Alpine AFD)
- LOOK Pivot 18 is only available in CAST Purple
- There are currently no sales of the CAST Freetour 2.0 upgrade kit.
- Not compatible with CAST Freetour 1.0
For details on the update to Freetour 2.0, please read the CAST Freetour 2.0 development story below.
The LOOK Pivot is an alpine ski binding with a durable aluminum toe piece and turntable heel piece that provides instantaneous power transmission and precise ski control with a highly responsive boot-to-ski, as well as secure retention and release during aggressive skiing, making it the most reliable binding available.
The LOOK Pivot 18 toe piece has been modified to work with CAST's patented quick release mechanism, and is replaced with an ultra-lightweight touring tech toe for uphill climbs. The CAST Freetour 2.0 is the no-compromise alpine touring binding solution with all the reliability and security of an alpine binding, making it the best hybrid touring binding on the market. The freeride solution has been updated even further.
What's more, by purchasing the Freetour 2.0 2nd Ski Kit (and the LOOK Pivot Spare Brake if the board width is different), you can use it with other boards by simply tightening four screws.
Tech Freedom
At just 87g per side, the Freetour 2.0's superlight Tech Toe minimizes touring weight while maximizing efficiency. By replacing the toe pieces on your Pivot 18 with the Tech Toe, the total binding weight per ski is just around 1,000g.
Alpine Performance
The LOOK Pivot 18 combined with our new Freetour 2.0 Base Plate and Toe Pedestal maintains all of the reliability and performance of the most trusted alpine binding in skiing, while the perfect release and retention characteristics provide unmatched security.
Advantages of LOOK Pivot
The LOOK Pivot's performance is unmatched: its large elastic travel, fastest re-centering, short mounting zone and multi-directional release create the best ski feel of any binding.
Ski crampon compatible
The crampon clips are compatible with Dynafit style ski crampons.
AFD compatible with all boot soles
The standard AFD is compatible with both GripWalk ISO 23223 and Alpine ISO 5355 soles. For a full rocker sole, an interchangeable ISO 9523 (touring sole) is also included.
Turntable Heel
The LOOK Pivot's turntable heel allows for rotational release around the tibial axis, something most tech bindings fail to achieve, greatly reducing the chance of lower leg injury.
Heel Assembly
The Freetour 2.0 compact Brake Lock/Bail Set mounts via two holes in front of the heel piece and includes a brake lock and two climbing bails for flat, 8° and 12° climbing modes.
Important points to note when purchasing CAST Freetour 2.0
The CAST Freetour 2.0 uses the same hole pattern as the LOOK Pivot 15/18, plus two new holes for the brake lock. The holes for the LOOK Pivot 15/18 must be accurately located using a gauge (jig) or template, and the holes must be drilled correctly. A template sticker for the Brake Lock/Bail Assembly is included in the kit.
We also sell the LOOK-CAST Jig Attachment, which can be attached to the current LOOK gauge Adult Mounting Template (FCFF001).
